Dr. Rifkin was born and raised in Chicago and attended Northwestern University

Undergraduate Campus in Evanston. Upon graduation, he attended the Chicago Medical School and returned to Evanston to do his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine. His Hematology/Oncology training began at Northwestern Medical School and was completed in Nashville, TN at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Rifkin has been in practice since 1975. He started in Rockford, IL and practiced at Swedish American Hospital. He moved to Arlington Heights, IL, where he has been in practice since that time. He is on staff at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, as well as Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, IL. Dr. Rifkin's academic interests include hematologic malignancies and solid tumors with an emphasis on colon, breast, and lung.

Dr. Rifkin is married, with 5 children and 2 grandchildren. He has a number of interests and hobbies including photography, astronomy, and music.
