A native and resident of Chicago Mary received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University prior to pursuing a career in nursing. She obtained a diploma in nursing from Lutheran General Hospital School of Nursing and after working ten years as an oncology nurse; she pursued studies to complete a Bachelor in Science Degree in Nursing from North Park
University. Mary also obtained a Master's in Science with a Major in Nursing degree from North Park where she completed the Adult Nurse Practitioner program. In 2001 she became board certified as an adult nurse practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Mary is currently a part time faculty member at North Park University School of Nursing and has taught Healthcare Ethics and Nursing Concepts to undergraduate nursing students.
Mary's nursing career started in 1976 as a staff nurse at Resurrection Medical
Center in Chicago. She left Resurrection to work for a private oncology practice
before returning to Resurrection to develop their outpatient Cancer Treatment
Center. Her career has primarily been dedicated to oncology patients in both
clinical and administrative settings. Ultimately, Mary advanced to Director,
Outpatient Oncology Services for Resurrection Medical Center. For a brief time
Mary worked as a nurse practitioner in an otorhinolaryngological practice and as
a palliative care nurse practitioner in a hospice setting. Mary joined Cancer Care & Hematology Specialists of Chicagoland as the Clinical Nurse Manager/Nurse Practitioner in December 2003.
