HEMATOLOGY SERVICES

Hematology is the study and treatment of diseases associated with blood cells and the blood forming organs. Although many disorders can affect the components of blood, hematology centers on three general divisions of study.

Disorders involving Red Blood Cells.

These include red corpuscles and anemias, hemoglobin and platelets.

Disorders involving White Blood Cells.

These include leukemias, Hodgkin's Disease, neutropenias,

myeloproliferative disorders, myelodysplastic syndrome and lymphomas.

Coagulation disorders.

Bleeding or hemophilia, platelets and recurrent thrombosis.

All of our physicians are board certified and have completed advanced training in Hematology. Each of our sites are fully equipped to perform the tests necessary for the investigation and treatment of hematological problems. A few of the more common tests include full blood counts, blood films and bone marrow biopsies.
