Kim is a graduate of University of Illinois School of Nursing. She started her career at Loyola University Medical Center working as a hematology/oncology staff nurse. She then went to the University of Illinois to get experience in intensive care nursing, and remained there for ten years. During that time she worked in Coronary Intensive Care, and finally as a research nurse for the chief of cardiology. Kim took a sabbatical from nursing for a while to be with her children when they were young. After some time, she entered graduate school. She obtained her masters degree in nursing from Northern Illinois University and finished nurse practitioner training in 2001. Kim has coauthored journal articles, in the past, and wrote a chapter for a nursing textbook, while in graduate school. She currently teaches pharmacology for the nursing program at Harper College. Kim is board certified as an adult nurse practitioner (ANP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She is an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN), and maintains certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Kim joined Cancer Care & Hematology Specialists of Chicagoland in August of 2002.
